News PageRecent Building Code Changes require a Sound Pressure Level from a fire alarm signal device in a floor area used for occupancies other than Residential Occupancies shall not be less than than 10 dBA above the ambient noise level, but with a minimum value not less than 65 dBA. Retrofitted areas may require a "Sound Level Test" utilizing an approved Sound Level Meter. Different regulations apply to Residential Occupancies and can be referred to at the Fire Marshal's Web Site: http://www.gov.on.ca/OFM/guidetec/audibility.htm#scope Alarmstat can provide a Sound Level Test with an approved Meter at your request.
